One of the most powerful ways to improve lives is through education.
To continue the legacy and sustainability of Cell C Take A Girl Child To Work DayŽ, we launched a Bursary Fund in 2007 as a financial resource that invests in the tertiary education of qualifying girl learners from disadvantaged backgrounds. The development and empowerment of young women is at the heart of Cell C's organization social investment initiatives. Education remains one of the most important means of achieving gender equity as it empowers women with knowledge, skills, self-confidence and social and economic status. These qualities enable women to participate meaningfully in our economy. Given the number of young women who are unemployed and therefore vulnerable in every possible way, education is critical.
The CellCgirl Bursary Fund supports 30 young, dynamic beneficiaries to achieve their dreams. Bursaries cover registration, tuition fees, books, accommodation, workshops as well as a monthly allowance. We have delivered twelve female graduates over the past two years and every one of them is successfully employed. Read more about their stories below.
Cell C partners with not-for-profit organisation, Tomorrow Trust (www.tomorrowtrust.co.za) , and together we identify and recommend post-matric, qualifying girls from disadvantaged backgrounds to benefit from our bursary fund. Tomorrow Trust believes education can break the cycle of poverty and use a holistic education approach. They support and develop each individual to reach their potential to become leaders that are self-sustainable and proactive citizens.
Cell C is grateful for the support from like-minded donor partners, DNI & FCB as well as Cell C shareholders and executives. Thank you for coming on board and for being committed to the CellCgirl Bursary Fund over the past few years.
Please make a contribution and help more young women to achieve their dreams of tertiary education. Funds go directly to the Tomorrow Trust.
